Presenting Reports from Inter-parliamentary Delegations

Pursuant to Standing Order 34(1), Mr. Comuzzi (Thunder Bay -- Superior North) presented the Report of the Canadian Section of the Canada-United States Inter-Parliamentary Group respecting its participation at the 39th Annual Meeting, held in Nantucket, Massachusetts, from May 14 to 18, 1998. -- Sessional Paper No. 8565-361-59A.


Pursuant to Standing Order 34(1), Mrs. Parrish (Mississauga Centre) presented the Report of the joint Committee meeting of the North Atlantic Assembly (NATO Parliamentarians) Defence and Security, Economic and Political Committees, held in Brussels, Belgium, on February 15 and 16, 1998. -- Sessional Paper No. 8565- 361-50B.


Pursuant to Standing Order 34(1), Mrs. Parrish (Mississauga Centre) presented the Report on the meeting of the Standing Committee and the Secretaries of National Delegations of the North Atlantic Assembly (NATO Parliamentarians), held in Madeira, Portugal, from March 27 to 29, 1998. -- Sessional Paper No. 8565- 361-50C.

Introduction of Government Bills

Pursuant to Standing Orders 68(2) and 69(1), on motion of Mr. Manley (Minister of Industry) for Mr. Axworthy (Minister of Foreign Affairs), seconded by Mr. Scott (Solicitor General of Canada), Bill C-52, An Act to implement the Comprehensive Nuclear Test-Ban Treaty, was introduced, read the first time, ordered to be printed and ordered for a second reading at the next sitting of the House.


Pursuant to Standing Orders 68(2) and 69(1), on motion of Mr. Manley (Minister of Industry), seconded by Mr. Scott (Solicitor General of Canada), Bill C-53, An Act to increase the availability of financing for the establishment, expansion, modernization and improvement of small businesses, was introduced, read the first time, ordered to be printed and ordered for a second reading at the next sitting of the House.

      His Excellency the Governor General recommends to the House of Commons the appropriation of public revenue under the circumstances, in the manner and for the purposes set out in a measure entitled "An Act to increase the availability of financing for the establishment, expansion, modernization and improvement of small businesses".
