M-206 Canada Pension Plan

41st Parliament, 2nd Session

Motion Text

That, in the opinion of the House, the government should initiate changes to the Canada Pension Plan (CPP) to provide a “dropout” or exemption period in the calculation of benefits, similar to that currently in place to accommodate child rearing, with regard to periods in which the contributor has withdrawn from CPP contributable employment to care for elderly family members or those with a disability, and that the allowable parameters for the exemption be determined in consultation with stakeholder groups including representatives of the elder and disability communities.
