M-221 Electric vehicle

Motion Text

That, in the opinion of the House, the government should: (a) encourage and promote the creation of electric car companies in Canada; (b) meet its commitment to require 30% of all vehicles sold in Canada to be electric by 2030, and 100% by 2040; (c) work with the provinces and territories to provide Canadians with green infrastructure such as fast-charging stations; (d) establish a tax credit on the purchase of an electric vehicle and the installation of charging stations; (e) require manufacturers to make more electric vehicles available to Canadians; (f) encourage research into clean energy technologies; and (g) pursue the transition to clean electricity, for example by reducing electricity produced from fossil fuels by 1% per year.
