The subcommittee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to subcommittee business.

It was agreed, — That in relation to the study of the current situation in Tigray, the subcommittee hold two supplementary meetings to invite additional witnesses to gather information on the current blockade, the diversion of humanitarian aid, and the presence and actions of Eritrean soldiers; and that the findings collected are reported to the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development.

It was agreed, — That in relation to the study of the current situation in Tigray, members submit their list of additional witnesses, in order of priority, by Wednesday, September 28, 2022, at 5:00 pm ET.

It was agreed, — That in relation to the study of the current situation in Haïti, members submit their list of witnesses, in order of priority, by Wednesday, September 28, 2022, at 5:00 pm ET.

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the subcommittee conduct undertake a comprehensive study of the rapidly diminishing rights and freedoms of women and girls globally, namely in Iran, Saudi Arabia, and Afghanistan; that the study focus on the work of human rights defenders and women peace builders; and that the study include a review of the rise in online hate directed at these women as well as women from diaspora communities and refugee women in Canada; that the subcommittee hold at least three meetings on this issue; and that the findings collected are reported to the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development.

It was agreed, — That in relation to the study of the rights and freedoms of women, members submit their list of witnesses, in order of priority, by Wednesday, October 5, 2022, at 5:00 pm ET.

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the subcommittee undertake a comprehensive study on violations of human rights driving migration in Central and South America with particular attention to the situation in El Salvador, Venezuela and Nicaragua; that the subcommittee hold at least two meetings on this study; and that the subcommittee report its findings and recommendations to the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development.

It was agreed, — That in relation to the study of the violations of human rights driving migration in Central and South America, members submit their list of witnesses, in order of priority, by Wednesday, October 5, 2022, at 5:00 pm ET.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the subcommittee on Monday, February 14, 2022, the subcommittee resumed its study of human rights in repressive states: the situation of human rights defenders, journalists and media organizations.

The subcommittee resumed consideration of a draft report.

At 10:48 a.m., the subcommittee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
