The committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to committee business.

It was agreed, — That, notwithstanding the usual practice of the committee concerning access to documents, Jean-Denis Garon be added to the committee’s distribution list and be granted access to the committee’s digital binders until September 2022 or there is a membership change that renders this measure unnecessary.

Motion

Mike Lake moved, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), and in relation to the motion unanimously passed by the House of Commons on December 11, 2020, calling for a national three-digit suicide prevention hotline (988), the committee hold a minimum of three meetings to study the implementation of this hotline; that the Minister of Mental Health and Addictions be invited to appear at one of these meetings, and that the committee present a comprehensive report to the House.

Adam van Koeverden moved, — That the motion be amended by replacing the words “three meetings” with the words “ two meetings”.

The motion, as amended, read as follows:

Motion

Mike Lake moved, — That the content for April 25 and April 27, 2022 of the draft calendar be approved, and that Dr. Theresa Tam, Dr. Howard Njoo, and accompanying Public Health Agency of Canada officials, be invited to appear on Monday, May 2, 2022 in relation to the study of Emergency Situation Facing Canadians in Light of the COVID-19 Pandemic.

After debate, the question was put on the motion and it was agreed to.

At 4:58 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
