Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) the committee commenced its study of the subject matter of Supplementary Estimates (C), 2023-24: Vote 1c under Canadian Food Inspection Agency, Vote 5c under Canadian Institutes of Health Research, Votes 1c and 10c under Department of Health and Vote 10c under Public Health Agency of Canada.

The Minister of Health made a statement and, with Heather Jeffrey and Catherine McLeod, answered questions.

At 12:04 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:12 p.m., the sitting resumed.

The Minister of Mental Health and Addictions made a statement and, with Eric Costen and Jennifer Saxe, answered questions.

The committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to committee business.

Marcus Powlowski gave notice of the following motion:

That, pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the committee undertake a study on the treatment and prevention of cancer in Canada, including the state of current research on diagnosis and treatment of cancer; that the committee allocate up to six meetings to this study; that the committee report its findings and recommendations to the House; and that, pursuant to Standing Order 109, the government table a comprehensive response to the report.
