Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the committee on Friday, October 30, 2020, the committee resumed its study of economic recovery in the forestry sector.

John Small, Mohini Mohan Sain, Emmanuelle Rancourt, Werner Kurz, and Alain Paradis made statements and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

Motion

Bob Zimmer moved, — That, the Honourable Mary Ng, Minister of Small Business, Export Promotion and International Trade, along with government officials, be invited to appear before the committee as part of its ongoing study on Economic Recovery in the Forestry Sector, prior to December 11, 2020, to provide critical information relating to the recent World Trade Organization ruling, as the government official who appeared before the committee on Friday, October 30, 2020 was not able to respond to the question and suggested that Global Affairs Canada appear and answer that question at a future meeting.

The question was put on the motion and it was agreed to on the following recorded division:

YEAS: Richard Cannings, Rachael Harder, Yvonne Jones, Paul Lefebvre, Sébastien Lemire, Bryan May, Greg McLean, Jeremy Patzer, Maninder Sidhu, Patrick Weiler, Bob Zimmer — 11;

NAYS: — 0.

Questioning of the witnesses resumed.

At 12:49 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:57 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

The committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to committee business.

At 1:06 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
