Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the committee on Monday, November 16, 2020, the committee commenced its study of the relations between Facebook and the federal government.

The Minister made a statement and, with Hélène Laurendeau and Jean-Stéphen Piché, answered questions.

At 1:39 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 1:42 p.m., the sitting resumed.

Kevin Chan and Marc Dinsdale made a statement and, with Rachel Curran, answered questions.

At 2:34 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 2:44 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

The committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to committee business.

It was agreed, — That a proposed budget in the amount of $4,500, for the study of the Subject Matter of Bill C-10, An Act to amend the Broadcasting Act and to make related and consequential amendments to other Acts, be adopted.

It was agreed, — That the Library of Parliament prepare for the Committee’s consideration a list of proposed witnesses for the study of the Subject Matter of Bill C-10, An Act to amend the Broadcasting Act and to make related and consequential amendments to other Acts, for Monday, February 1, 2021.

It was agreed, — That members provide the clerk of the committee with the names of witnesses in ranked order by 4:00 p.m. EST, on Thursday, February 4, 2021, for the study on Subject Matter of Bill C-10, An Act to amend the Broadcasting Act and to make related and consequential amendments to other Acts.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the committee on Friday, October 23, 2020, the committee commenced its study of the challenges and issues faced by the arts, culture, heritage and sport sectors during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The committee commenced consideration of a draft report.

At 3:33 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
