Pursuant to the order of reference of Tuesday, May 26, 2020, Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the committee on Thursday, February 20, 2020, the committee resumed its study of fraud calls in Canada.

The committee resumed consideration of a draft report.

By unanimous consent, the question: “That the draft report be adopted; that the report be entitled: "Fraudulent Calls in Canada, a Federal Government's First Start"; that the Chair, clerk and analysts be authorized to make such grammatical and editorial changes as may be necessary without changing the substance of the report; that, pursuant to Standing Order 109, the committee request that the government table a comprehensive response to the report” was put and it was agreed to on the following recorded division:

ORDERED, — That the Chair present the report to the House.

ORDERED, — That the analysts and the Clerk, in consultation with the Chair, prepare a news release for publication on the Committee’s website and for distribution upon presentation of the report to the House.

ORDERED, — That the clerk of the committee make the necessary arrangements for a press conference to be held after the presentation of the committee's report to the House on Fraudulent Calls in Canada.

It was agreed, — That the draft letter with regard to the committee's study on Fraud Calls in Canada be approved and sent to the appropriate minister.

Pursuant to the order of reference of Tuesday, May 26, 2020, Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the committee on Monday, June 1, 2020, the committee resumed its study of the Investment Canada Act.

By unanimous consent, it was agreed on division, — That the committee's consideration of the draft letter with regard to the committee's study on Investment Canada Act be postponed until after consideration of the draft report.

At 11:51 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:26 p.m., the sitting resumed in a public and webcast session.

Pursuant to the order of reference of Saturday, April 11, 2020, and Tuesday, May 26, 2020, the committee resumed its study of the Canadian response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The witnesses made statements and answered questions.

Jeremy Patzer gave notice of the following motion:

That, as part of its study on the Canadian Response to the COVID-19 Pandemic, the Standing Committee on Industry, Science and Technology invite Daniel Therrien, Privacy Commissioner of Canada, to testify regarding the development and ongoing operation of the recently released contact tracing application.

At 2:29 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
