SECU Committee Report

In accordance with its Order of Reference of Wednesday, January 31, 2018, and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, March 20, 2018, your Committee has considered M-124, Automated External Defibrillators and has agreed to report the following:

1. That the automated external defibrillators (AEDs) models used should be compatible with the AEDs being used by other emergency responders in the relevant jurisdictions;
2. That the Government ensure they are equipped to adapt to the realities of the Canadian geography and climate; and
3. That consideration is given to optimize the overall cost of the device when comparing life expectancy and maintenance costs of different models.

Pursuant to Standing Order 109, the Committee requests that the Government table a comprehensive response to this Report.
