Pursuant to the motion adopted by the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development on Thursday, February 4, 2016, and the motion adopted by the Subcommittee on Thursday, October 4, 2018, the Subcommittee resumed its study of the human rights situation of the Uyghurs.

By videoconference, the witnesses made statements and answered questions.

At 1:53 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 1:54 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

The Subcommittee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Subcommittee business.

It was agreed, — That a proposed budget in the amount of $2,900.00, for the study of Yezidis, Christians and other religious and ethnic minorities in Iraq, be adopted.

It was agreed, — That a proposed budget in the amount of $6,300.00, for the study of the human rights situation of the Uyghurs, be adopted.

It was agreed, — That a proposed budget in the amount of $10,200.00, for the study of the state of the free press, be adopted.

It was agreed, — That the following witnesses: H.E. Atifete Jahjaga, Former President of the Republic of Kosovo, and Minister of Women and Gender Equality of Chile, Isabel Pla, be invited to appear for separate briefings on October 30, 2018.

At 2:00 p.m., the Subcommittee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
