Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, February 2, 2017, the Committee resumed its study of the Public Servants Disclosure Protection Act.

The Committee resumed consideration of a draft report.

At 9:31 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 9:33 a.m., the sitting resumed in public.

The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

Motion

Nick Whalen moved, — That, notwithstanding the motion adopted on Thursday, May 11, 2017, the meetings on Tuesday, June 13, 2017, and Thursday, June 15, 2017, be dedicated to the consideration of the changes to the Government of Canada’s Communications Policy as it pertains to government advertising, including the consideration of the policy, procedures and the role of Advertising Standards Canada.

Debate arose thereon.

Amendment

Erin Weir moved, — That the motion be amended by replacing the words “the meetings on Tuesday, June 13, 2017, and Thursday, June 15, 2017” with the words “the meeting on Tuesday, June 13, 2017”.

After debate, the question was put on the amendment of Erin Weir and it was negatived, by a show of hands: YEAS: 2; NAYS: 6.

The question was put on the motion and it was agreed to, by a show of hands: YEAS: 6; NAYS: 2.

Motion

Kelly McCauley moved, — That at least one (1) two-hour meeting be dedicated to set the framework for the study of the Federal Government’s procurement process, including the National Shipbuilding Procurement Strategy and the acquisition of Boeing F/A-18 Super Hornet fighter jets, planned by the Committee for the Fall.

Debate arose thereon.

Motion

Nick Whalen moved, — That the debate be now adjourned.

The question was put on the motion and it was agreed to, by a show of hands: YEAS: 6; NAYS: 2.

At 9:57 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
