Dan Albas moved, — That the Standing Committee on Industry, Science and Technology study Statistics Canada’s plans to collect “individual-level financial transactions data” to develop a “new institutional personal information bank”; invite Statistics Canada officials, the Privacy Commissioner, representatives of the Canadian Bankers Association, among other witnesses; report its findings to the House of Commons; and request that the Government provide a response to the report.
Debate arose thereon.
David de Burgh Graham moved, — That the motion be amended by replacing all the words after "Technology" with the words "invite the Chief Statistician of Statistics Canada to appear before the Committee to discuss the Financial Data Pilot Project for an hour; and that the meeting be televised.".

The debate on the motion of Dan Albas continued.
Michael D. Chong moved, — That the motion be amended by replacing the words "Statistics Canada officials" with the words "the minister Bains, the Chief Statistician of Canada and Statistics Canada officials, the former Information and Privacy Commissioner of Ontario, Ann Cavoukian".
After debate, the question was put on the amendment of Michael D. Chong and it was negatived on the following recorded division:
