Pursuant to the Order of Reference of Wednesday, December 13, 2017, and section 92 of the Copyright Act, the Committee resumed the statutory review of the Act.

Brian Masse gave notice of the following motion:

That the Committee hold hearings to study the proposed purchase by this governement of the Trans Mountain Expansion Project pipeline and infrastructure, including : a) the terms of the purchase including the costs to taxpayers and long-term impacts of purchasing and completing this project, b) the direct and indirect impacts on Canadian businesses directly in competition with pipeline products and the use of those products in respective markets, and, c) the plan for the sale of this project once completed.

David Swail, John Hinds and Jean-Philippe Béland made statements.

At 3:55 p.m., by unanimous consent and pursuant to Standing Order 115(5), it was agreed that the Committee continue to sit a few minutes after the bells.

At 4:10 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:55 p.m., the sitting resumed.

The witnesses answered questions.

Matt Jeneroux gave notice of the following motion:

That the Standing Committee on Industry, Science and Technology undertake a study of four meetings to review, among other things: the overall cost of buying and expanding the Trans Mountain Pipeline project, the costs related to oversight (crown corporation) of the project, and how this decision will impact investor confidence in Canadian resource projects; and that the Committee report its findings back to the House and make recommendations on how to restore investor confidence.

At 5:29 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
