Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Wednesday, October 26, 2016, the Committee commenced its study of the subject matter of Bill S-3, An Act to amend the Indian Act (elimination of sex-based inequities in registration).

Joëlle Montminy made a statement and, with Candice St-Aubin, Nathalie Nepton, Effie Panousos and Martin Reiher, answered questions.

At 4:26 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:30 p.m., the sitting resumed.

Rick O'Bomsawin, David Schulze and Stéphane Descheneaux made statements and answered questions.

Committee Business

The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

It was agreed, — That a proposed budget in the amount of $22,100, for the study of the subject matter of Bill S-3, an Act to amend the Indian Act (elimination of sex-based inequities in registration), be adopted.

At 5:28 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
