Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, May 4, 2017, the Committee resumed its study of advancing inclusion and quality of life for Canadian seniors.

Charles Beach, Bonnie-Jeanne MacDonald, Mark Janson, Jean-Guy Soulière and Isobel Mackenzie made statements and, with Sayward Montague, answered questions.

At 5:22 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 5:27 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

Motion

It was agreed, — That the Committee proceed to sit in public.

At 5:32 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 5:33 p.m., the sitting resumed.

Motion

Peter Kent moved, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee immediately undertake a study of no less than four meetings on the proposed changes to the tax system outlined in the government's consultations entitled "Tax Planning Using Private Corporations" as publicly released on July 18, 2017, in order to assess the impact of the changes with regards to brain drain, long-term workforce planning, the potential for job losses, the employment rate, the unemployment rate, and the impact on low-income Canadians and Canadians with disabilities; that, the findings be reported to the House; that, the government provide a response to the recommendations made by the Committee.

The question was put on the motion and it was negatived, by a show of hands: YEAS: 3; NAYS: 6.

At 5:33 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
