Pursuant to Standing Order 106(2), the Clerk of the Committee presided over the election of a Chair.

On motion of Robert J. Morrissey, it was agreed, — That Bernadette Jordan be elected Chair of the Committee.

At 8:51 a.m., Bernadette Jordan took the Chair.

At 8:52 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 8:52 a.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

It was agreed, — That a letter be sent to Scott Simms, M.P., thanking him for the past work he has done as a member and as the Chair of the Committee.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, September 26, 2017, the Committee resumed its study of the Atlantic Canada commercial vessel length and licensing policies.

The Committee proceeded to give drafting instructions to the analysts for a report.

At 9:22 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 9:24 a.m., the sitting resumed.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Monday, December 12, 2016, the Committee resumed its study of the Oceans Act’s marine protected areas.

The Committee resumed consideration of a draft report.

At 10:12 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:17 a.m., the sitting resumed.

The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

It was agreed, — That a proposed budget in the amount of $18,300.00, for the study of the Atlantic Canada commercial vessel length and licensing policies, be adopted.

At 10:22 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:23 a.m., the sitting resumed.

It was agreed, — That the Minister be invited to appear in relation to the study of the Main Estimates 2018-19.

At 10:34 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
