The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

At 9:40 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 9:41 a.m., the sitting resumed.

The Committee resumed consideration of matters related to Committee business.

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee undertake a study examining commercial fishing vessel length policy as it applies to the Atlantic Provinces, specifically in respect to inconsistencies in policies in regards to:

(a) Commercial fishing vessel extension regulations;

(b) Offshore / inshore transfer of licences;

(c) Time frame for operator transfers; and

(d) Combining Quotas / Commercial fishing vessel capacity.

At 9:55 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 9:58 a.m., the sitting resumed in public.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Monday, December 12, 2016, the Committee resumed its study of the Oceans Act’s marine protected areas.

Kevin Obermeyer and Donna Spalding, by videoconference from Vancouver, British Columbia, made statements and answered questions.

At 10:47 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
