The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

Motion

Francesco Sorbara moved, — Whereas the Sixth Report of the Standing Committee on Finance entitled: The Canada Revenue Agency, Tax Avoidance and Tax Evasion: Recommended Actions calls on the federal government to review the Income Tax Act and report back to the Committee by Friday, June 30, 2017;

Whereas the Department of Finance is conducting a review of the Income Tax Act that is ongoing and not yet complete;

That the Standing Committee on Finance defer its hearings on the study undertaken following the motion adopted on Thursday, June 16, 2016 until after the federal government has completed its review and reported back to the Committee.

After debate, the question was put on the motion and it was agreed to, by a show of hands: YEAS: 5; NAYS: 4.

Motion

Francesco Sorbara moved, — That the calendar of meetings proposed by the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure for the remaining meetings of the Finance Committee in February 2017, be agreed to.

Amendment

Dan Albas moved, — That the proposed calendar of meetings be amended by adding one additional hour to the meeting on Monday, February 13, 2017, to hear from more witnesses on the study of the Canadian Real Estate Market and Home Ownership.

After debate, the question was put on the amendment of Dan Albas and it was negatived, by a show of hands: YEAS: 4; NAYS: 5.

The question was put on the motion and it was agreed to, by a show of hands: YEAS: 5; NAYS: 4.

At 3:59 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
