Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee commenced consideration of the subject matter of Bill S-4, An Act to implement a Convention and an Arrangement for the avoidance of double taxation and the prevention of fiscal evasion with respect to taxes on income and to amend an Act in respect of a similar Agreement.

It was agreed, — That a proposed budget in the amount of $6,000.00, for the study of the Subject Matter of Bill S-4, An Act to implement a Convention and an Arrangement for the avoidance of double taxation and the prevention of fiscal evasion with respect to taxes on income and to amend an Act in respect of a similar Agreement, be adopted.

Brian Ernewein made a statement and, with Stephanie Smith, answered questions.

At 4:35 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:41 p.m., the sitting resumed.

Luisa Rebolledo, Gordon Houlden, Brigitte Alepin, Sarah Taylor and John Weston made statements and answered questions.

At 5:06 p.m., Ron Liepert took the Chair.

At 5:21 p.m., Hon. Wayne Easter took the Chair.

The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

Motion

Dan Albas moved, — That the Standing Committee on Finance undertake a study on Bill C-240 An Act to amend the Income Tax Act (tax credit—first aid) on Thursday, December 8, 2016; that Members of the Committee as well as Members who are not a member of a caucus represented on the Committee and independent members should submit their amendments to the Clerk of the Committee no later than Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at 3:30; that the Committee report its findings to the House.

After debate, the question was put on the motion and it was negatived, by a show of hands: YEAS: 4; NAYS: 5.

At 6:07 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
