Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, April 4, 2017, the Committee resumed its study of Canada's engagement in Asia.

Patricia Talbot, Christine Ahn, by videoconference from Honolulu, Hawaii, and Carole Samdup, by videoconference from Montréal, Quebec, made statements and answered questions.

At 4:29 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:33 p.m., the sitting resumed.

James Manicom, Jeremy Paltiel and David Welch, by videoconference from Toronto, Ontario, made statements and answered questions.

At 5:28 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 5:30 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

It was agreed, — That, in relation to the Subcommittee on International Human Rights' study of the Human Rights Situation in Syria, the proposed budget in the amount of $2,300 be adopted.

It was agreed, — That, in relation to the Subcommittee on International Human Rights' study of the Human Rights Situation in Turkey, the proposed budget in the amount of $7,500 be adopted.

It was agreed, — That, in relation to the Subcommittee on International Human Rights' study of the Human Rights Situation in Cambodia, the proposed budget in the amount of $2,900 be adopted.

At 5:31 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
