Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(h)(vii) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, May 30, 2017, the Committee resumed its study of the privacy of Canadians at airports, borders and travelling in the United States.

The Committee proceeded to give drafting instructions to the analysts for a report.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(h)(vi) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, November 1, 2016, the Committee resumed its study of the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

It was agreed, — That, in relation to the draft report for the study on the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), all parties submit their lists of recommendations to the clerk no later than Wednesday, November 22, 2017; and that the draft report be prepared over the holidays so that it can be reviewed when the House resumes in January 2018.

The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

It was agreed, — That six meetings be set aside to study Bill C-58, An Act to amend the Access to Information Act and the Privacy Act and to make consequential amendments to other Acts; that the President of the Treasury Board, the Minister of Justice and the Minister of Democratic Institutions be invited to appear on Wednesday, October 18, 2017; that the Information Commissioner be invited to appear on Monday, October 23, 2017 ; that the witnesses invited to appear at the meetings of Wednesday, October 25, 2017 and Monday, October 30, 2017 be selected at the discretion of the Chair and the Vice-Chairs; and that the clause-by-clause study take place on Wednesday, November 1, 2017 and Monday, November 6, 2017.

It was agreed, — That the meeting of Wednesday, November 8, 2017 be allocated to study the draft report for the study on the Privacy of Canadians at Airports, Borders and Travelling in the United States.

It was agreed, — That a briefing on a review of the Lobbying Act be held on Monday, November 27, or Wednesday, November 29, 2017; and that the Commissioner of Lobbying and other witnesses be invited to appear.

It was agreed, — That a briefing be held with the relevant leaders, former or current, of Equifax Canada on Monday, November 27, or Wednesday, November 29, 2017, regarding the recent data breach that affected thousands of Canadians.

At 4:22 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
