Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, February 6, 2018, the Committee resumed its study of settlement services across Canada.

Jean Johnson, by videoconference from Edmonton, Alberta, Kristin Crane and Dustin Mymko made statements and, with Alain Dupuis, answered questions.

At 4:33 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:37 p.m., the sitting resumed.

Lily Kwok and Nazifia Hakemy, by videoconference from Calgary, Alberta, and Chantal Desloges made statements and answered questions.

Jenny Kwan gave notice of the following motion:

That, pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee immediately undertake a study on the subject matter of the following provisions of Bill C-97, An Act to implement certain provisions of the budget, tabled in Parliament on March 19, 2019, and other measures: Part 4, Division 15 and Part 4, Division 16. That, recommendations, including amendments be submitted to the Standing Committee on Finance in a letter to the Chair of the Standing Committee on Finance, in both official languages; that, amendments provided by the Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration to the Standing Committee on Finance are deemed proposed during the clause-by-clause consideration of Bill C-97; that this study be comprised of no fewer than 8 meetings and; that the Minister of Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship, the Minister for Border Security, and Departmental Officials be in attendance for at least one meeting.

Questioning of the witnesses resumed.

The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

On motion of Larry Maguire, it was agreed, — That the Committee hold a briefing session, before the end of May 2019, with representatives from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada to discuss the Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot.

At 5:20 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 5:21 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

At 5:31 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
