Pursuant to Standing Order 81(5) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Monday, January 28, 2019 the Committee commenced consideration of the Supplementary Estimates (B), 2018-19: Votes 1b, 10b and 15b under Department of Citizenship and Immigration, referred to the Committee on Monday, January 28, 2019.

The Chair called Vote 1b under Department of Citizenship and Immigration.

The Ministers made statements and answered questions.

Michelle Rempell raised a point of order regarding the length of time allowed for questioning by a Committee member.

RULING BY THE CHAIR

The Chair ruled that the length of time for questioning by a Committee member, pursuant to the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, February 16, 2016, had been respected.

Whereupon, Michelle Rempel appealed the decision of the Chair.

The question: "Shall the decision of the Chair be sustained?" was put and the decision was sustained on the following recorded division:

YEAS: Ramez Ayoub, Jenny Kwan, Randeep Sarai, Marwan Tabbara, Nick Whalen, Salma Zahid — 6;

NAYS: Larry Maguire, Michelle Rempel, David Tilson — 3.

Questioning of the Ministers resumed.

At 4:26 p.m., pursuant to Standing Order 115(5), it was agreed that the Committee continue to sit.

Questioning of the Ministers resumed.

On motion of Jenny Kwan, it was agreed, — That officials from the Department of Citizenship and Immigration be invited to appear before the Committee with regards to the study of the subject-matter of the Supplementary Estimates (B), 2018-19.

Questioning of the Ministers resumed.

At 4:46 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
