Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Monday, April 23, 2018, the Committee commenced its study of mental health challenges that Canadian farmers, ranchers, and producers face.

Michael Hoffort, by videoconference from Regina, Saskatchewan, and Tom Rosser made statements and answered questions.

At 5:17 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 5:19 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

It was agreed, — That, notwithstanding the routine motion adopted by the Committee on Wednesday, February 3, 2016, Earl Dreeshen’s intern be allowed to remain in the committee room during the in camera meeting on Wednesday, June 13, 2018.

It was agreed, — That the Clause-by-Clause consideration of Bill C-281, An Act to establish a National Local Food Day, be scheduled on Monday, June 18, 2018, and be rescheduled on Wednesday, June 20, 2018, in the event the meeting is cancelled on Monday, June 18, 2018.

It was agreed, — That the Committee resume its study of the advancements of technology and research in the agriculture industry that can support Canadian exports in the fall of 2018, and then continue with the study of the mental health challenges that Canadian farmers, ranchers, and producers face.

It was agreed, — That a proposed budget in the amount of $ 34,300, for the study of mental health challenges that Canadian farmers, ranchers, and producers face, be adopted.

At 5:32 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
