The Standing Committee on Government Operations and Estimates met in a televised session at 3:30 p.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, Pierre-Luc Dusseault, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Hon. Diane Ablonczy, Jay Aspin, Denis Blanchette, Hon. Gerry Byrne, Hon. Ron Cannan, Anne-Marie Day, Pierre-Luc Dusseault, Ed Komarnicki, Pat Martin, Hon. Gordon O'Connor, Bernard Trottier and Dave Van Kesteren.

 

Acting Members present: Brian Jean for Hon. Diane Ablonczy.

 

In attendance: House of Commons: Steven Chaplin, Principal Parliamentary Counsel (Legal); Anne-Marie Genin-Charette. Library of Parliament: André Léonard, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Department of Public Works and Government Services: Nancy Chahwan, Assistant Deputy Minister, Parliamentary Precinct Branch; Michelle d'Auray, Deputy Minister, Deputy Receiver General for Canada; Alex Lakroni, Chief Financial Officer, Finance Branch; Pierre-Marc Mongeau, Assistant Deputy Minister, Real Property Branch; Pablo Sobrino, Associate Assistant Deputy Minister, Acquisitions Branch.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 81(5), the Committee resumed consideration of the Supplementary Estimates (B) 2013-14: Vote 95b under CANADIAN HERITAGE, Votes 1b and 10b under PRIVY COUNCIL, Votes 1b, 5b, 15b and 20b under PUBLIC WORKS AND GOVERNMENT SERVICES and Votes 1b, 15b, 20b, 25b and 30b under TREASURY BOARD, referred to the Committee on Thursday, November 7, 2013.
 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, November 7, 2013, the Committee resumed its study of departmental performance reports for 2012-2013.
 

Michelle d'Auray made a statement and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

 

At 5:00 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 5:04 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That, with respect to the letter sent to the Committee by the Speaker of the House on Monday, November 25, 2013, regarding a request to waive parliamentary privilege of freedom of speech of a testimony before the Committee, the Chair write a letter to the Speaker informing him that the Committee declines to study the matter.

 

At 5:34 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
