The Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights met in a televised session at 1:01 p.m. this day, in Room C-110, 1 Wellington Street, the Chair, Mike Wallace, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Françoise Boivin, Patrick Brown, Sean Casey, Bob Dechert, Robert Goguen, Ève Péclet, Mike Wallace and David Wilks.

Acting Members present: Stella Ambler for Kyle Seeback and Craig Scott for Pierre Jacob.

Associate Members present: Joy Smith.

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Lyne Casavant, Analyst ; Dominique Valiquet, Analyst . House of Commons: Chloé O'Shaughnessy, Procedural Clerk.

Russomanno, Member and Criminal Defence Counsel; Anne London-Weinstein, Director, Board of Directors. Pursuant to the Order of Reference of Monday, June 16, 2014, the Committee resumed consideration of Bill C-36, An Act to amend the Criminal Code in response to the Supreme Court of Canada decision in Attorney General of Canada v. Bedford and to make consequential amendments to other Acts.

Robert Hooper, Timea E. Nagy, Émilie Laliberté, Naomi Sayers, Leonardo S. Russomano, Anne London-Weinstein, Janine Benedet and with John Lowman, by videoconference from Burnaby, British Columbia made statements and answered questions.

At 3:03 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
