The Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights met at 11:02 a.m. this day, in Room 268, La Promenade Building, for the purpose of electing a Chair, pursuant to Standing Order 106(1).

 

Members of the Committee present: Françoise Boivin, Sean Casey, Bob Dechert, Robert Goguen, Pierre Jacob, Ève Péclet, Kyle Seeback, Mike Wallace and David Wilks.

 

Acting Members present: Brad Trost for Patrick Brown.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Sandra Gruescu, Analyst; Dominique Valiquet, Analyst. House of Commons: Jean Michel Roy, Procedural Clerk.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 106(2), the Clerk of the Committee presided over the election of a Chair.
 

On motion of Françoise Boivin, it was agreed, — That Mike Wallace be elected Chair of the Committee.

 
By unanimous consent, pursuant to Standing Order 106(2), the Clerk of the Committee proceeded to the election of Vice-Chairs.
 

On motion of Bob Dechert, it was agreed, — That Françoise Boivin be elected First Vice-Chair of the Committee.

 

On motion of Robert Goguen, it was agreed, — That Sean Casey be elected Second Vice-Chair of the Committee.

 

At 11:05 a.m., Mike Wallace took the Chair.

 
By unanimous consent, the Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That the Committee commence its clause-by-clause study of Bill C-10, An Act to amend the Criminal Code (trafficking in contraband tobacco) on Thursday, February 6, 2014.

 

At 11:07 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
