The Standing Committee on Health met at 3:33 p.m. this day, in Room 306, The Valour Building, the Chair, Ben Lobb, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Eve Adams, Hon. Hedy Fry, Wladyslaw Lizon, Ben Lobb, James Lunney, Murray Rankin, David Wilks and Terence Young.

 

Acting Members present: Dany Morin for Christine Moore and Marc-André Morin for Matthew Kellway.

 

Other Members present: Elizabeth May.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Havi Echenberg, Analyst; Marlisa Tiedemann, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Canadian Consumer Specialty Products Association: Shannon Coombs, President. Farmers of North America: Bob Friesen, Vice-President, Government Affairs, Chief Executive Officer, Farmers of North America Strategic Agriculture Institute. Sierra Club Canada Foundation: John Bennett, National Program Director. Ecojustice Canada: Lara Tessaro, Staff lawyer; Tanya Nayler, Staff lawyer. Environmental Defence Canada: Maggie MacDonald, Toxic Program Manager. West Coast Environmental Law Association: Andrew Gage, Staff Counsel.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), section 80.1 of the Pest Control Products Act and the motion adopted on Tuesday, December 9, 2014, the Committee resumed the statutory review of the Act.
 

John Bennett, Bob Friesen and Shannon Coombs made statements and answered questions.

 

Murray Rankin gave notice of the following motion:

That the Standing Committee on Health extend its statutory review of the Pest Control Products Act by two days in order to hear from additional witnesses.

 

At 4:33 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:36 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 

Andew Gage, by videoconference from Victoria, British Columbia, Lara Tessaro and Maggie MacDonald made statements and, with Tanya Nayler, answered questions.

 

At 5:32 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
