The Standing Committee on Health met at 8:49 a.m. this day, in Room 237-C, Centre Block, the Chair, Ben Lobb, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Libby Davies, Wladyslaw Lizon, Ben Lobb, James Lunney, Dany Morin, Isabelle Morin, David Wilks and Terence Young.

 

Acting Members present: Mike Allen for Eve Adams and Francis Scarpaleggia for Hon. Hedy Fry.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Karin Phillips, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Correctional Service Canada: Michele Brenning, Assistant Commissioner, Health Services; Henry de Souza, Director General, Clinical Services. Department of Health: Debra Gillis, Acting Director General, Interprofessional Advisory and Program Support, First Nations and Inuit Health Branch. Department of National Defence: Hugh MacKay, Deputy Surgeon General, Canadian Forces.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Wednesday, October 30, 2013, the Committee commenced its study of the Best practices and federal barriers: practice and training of healthcare professionals.
 

Colonel MacKay, Michele Brenning and Debra Gillis made statements and, with Henry de Souza, answered questions.

 

At 10:36 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:38 a.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

At 10:42 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
