The Standing Committee on Finance met at 3:28 p.m. this day, in Room 268, La Promenade Building, the Chair, James Rajotte, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Hon. Scott Brison, Robert Chisholm, Alain Giguère, Shelly Glover, Randy Hoback, Brian Jean, Hoang Mai, Cathy McLeod, James Rajotte and Dave Van Kesteren.

Acting Members present: Jacques Gourde for Mark Adler and Wayne Marston for Peter Julian.

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Mark Mahabir, Analyst ; Brett Stuckey, Analyst.

Witnesses: Canadian Association of Retired Persons: Susan Eng, Vice-President, Advocacy. Canadian Bankers Association: Marion Wrobel, Vice-President, Policy and Operations. Canadian Bar Association: Mitch Frazer, Chair, National Pensions and Benefits Section. Canadian Federation of Independent Business: Daniel Kelly, Senior Vice-President, Legislative Affairs. Canadian Medical Association: Jeffrey Turnbull, Past-President. Regroupement des jeunes chambres de commerce du Québec: Guillaum Dubreuil, Vice-President, Public Affairs.

Pursuant to the Order of Reference of Wednesday, February 1, 2012, the Committee resumed consideration of Bill C-25, An Act relating to pooled registered pension plans and making related amendments to other Acts.

Susan Eng, Marion Wrobel, Mitch Frazer, Daniel Kelly, Jeffrey Turnbull and Guillaum Dubreuil made statements and answered questions.

The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

It was agreed, — That in relation to the study of Bill C-25, An Act relating to pooled registered pension plans and making related amendments to other Acts, the proposed budget in the amount of $14, 400 be adopted.

It was agreed, — That in relation to the study of Bill S-5, An Act to amend the law governing financial institutions and to provide for related and consequential matters, the proposed budget in the amount of $10,100 be adopted .

It was agreed, — That in relation to the study of Bill C-311, An Act to amend the Importation of Intoxicating Liquors Act (interprovincial importation of wine for personal use), the proposed budget in the amount of $7,700 be adopted.

At 5:14 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
