The Standing Committee on Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development met in camera at 3:33 p.m. this day, in Room 306 West Block, the Chair, Nancy Karetak-Lindell, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Hon. Sue Barnes, André Bellavance, Bernard Cleary, Nancy Karetak-Lindell, Jim Prentice, Carol Skelton, David Smith, Lloyd St. Amand and Roger Valley.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Mary Hurley, Analyst.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That the proposed budget for the study of Bill C-54, An Act to provide first nations with the option of managing and regulating oil and gas exploration and exploitation and of receiving moneys otherwise held for them by Canada, in the amount of $ 37,950.00, for the period of June 13, 2005 to December 31, 2005, be adopted.

 

It was agreed, — That the Clerk and the Analysts of the Committee, in consultation with the Chair, prepare a list of witnesses to be invited for the study of Bill C-54, An Act to provide first nations with the option of managing and regulating oil and gas exploration and exploitation and of receiving moneys otherwise held for them by Canada.

 

It was agreed, — That, depending on his availability, Thomas C. Hutchinson be invited to appear on June 23, 2005, or at the first meeting of the Committee following the beginning of September 2005, in relation to his Certificate of Nomination as Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Canadian Polar Commission, pursuant to Standing Order 110.

 

At 4:35 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
