Meeting No. 9

Monday, December 9, 2002

 

The Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights met at 3:36 p.m. this day, in Room 209, West Block, the Vice-Chair, John McKay, presiding.

Members of the Committee present : Chuck Cadman, Ivan Grose, Derek Lee, Paul Harold Macklin, John Maloney, Richard Marceau, John McKay, Vic Toews.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Philip Rosen, senior analyst, Robin MacKay, analyst.

Witnesses:  From the University of Ottawa: Dr. Julian Roberts, Department of Criminology.  From the Canadian Association Of Elizabeth Fry Societies: Kim Pate, Executive Director.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed consideration of the issue of conditional sentencing.

The witnesses made a statement and answered questions.

At 4:52 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
