The Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights met at 9:05 a.m. this day, (in a video recording session) in Room 269, West Block, the Chair, The Hon. Andy Scott, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Chuck Cadman, The Hon. Hedy Fry, Derek Lee, Richard Marceau, John McKay, The Hon. Andy Scott, Kevin Sorenson, Vic Toews.
Acting Members present: Paul Steckle for Paul Harold Macklin, Réal Ménard for Pierrette Venne, Svend Robinson for Bill Blaikie.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Philip Rosen, senior analyst, Kristen Douglas, analyst.
Witnesses: From the Law Commission of Canada: Nathalie Des Rosiers, President; Lorraine Pelot, Senior Research Officer.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed its study on marriage and the legal recognition of same-sex unions.
The witnesses made a statement and answered questions.
At 11:02 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
