By unanimous consent, it was ordered, -- That the question be deemed put on the motion for second reading and reference to the Standing Committee on Finance of Bill C-38, An Act to establish the Financial Consumer Agency of Canada and to amend certain Acts in relation to financial institutions, and a recorded division be deemed requested and deferred until Tuesday, September 26, 2000, at the expiry of the time provided for Government Orders.

GOVERNMENT ORDERS

The Order was read for the second reading and reference to the Standing Committee on National Defence and Veterans Affairs of Bill C-41, An Act to amend the statute law in relation to veterans' benefits.

The debate continued.

The question was put on the motion and it was agreed to.

Accordingly, the Bill was read the second time and referred to the Standing Committee on National Defence and Veterans Affairs.

PRIVATE MEMBERS' BUSINESS

At 1:14 p.m., by unanimous consent, the House proceeded to the consideration of Private Members' Business.

The Order was read for the second reading and reference to the Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights of Bill C-321, An Act to amend the Criminal Code to provide for the forfeiture of property relating to child pornography crimes.

Mr. Casson (Lethbridge), seconded by Mr. Lowther (Calgary Centre), moved, -- That the Bill be now read a second time and referred to the Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights.

Debate arose thereon.

Pursuant to Standing Order 93, the Order was dropped to the bottom of the order of precedence on the Order Paper.

ADJOURNMENT

At 2:15 p.m., the Speaker adjourned the House until Monday at 11:00 a.m., pursuant to Standing Order 24(1).
