The Standing Committee on Fisheries and Oceans met without recording at 1:45 p.m. this day, in Cambell River, British Columbia, the Chair, Wayne Easter, presiding.

Member(s) of the Committee present: Sarkis Assadourian, Yvan Bernier, John Duncan, Wayne Easter, Carmen Provenzano, Lou Sekora, Paul Steckle, Peter Stoffer.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Alan Nixon, Research Officer.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) the Committee resumed its study on Aquaculture.

Witness(es): From the United Fishermen & Allied Workers Union: Garth Mirau. From the British Columbia Ministry of Fisheries: Bud Graham, Assistant Deputy Minister; Andrew Morgan, Manager, Federal-Provincial International Relations; Bill Harrower, Finfish Biologist; Joanne Constantine, Fish Elf Veterinarian; Clare Backman, Finfish Biologist.. From the Nootka Resource Board - Gold River: Larry Andrews. From the B.C. Salmon Farmers Association: Anita C. Peterson. From the Sakana Veterinary Services Limited: Dr. Mark Sheppard, Veterinarian. From the Syndel Laboratories: Dr. Jim Brackett. From the Kyuguot First Nation Corporation: : Richard Buchanan. From the Musgamagw Tsawataineuk Tribal Council: Williams T. Cranmer, Chief; Bruce Burrows.

The witnesses made statements and answered questions.

At 5:30 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
