Pursuant to Order made on Wednesday, March 19, 2003, the House resumed consideration of the motion of Mr. Bélanger (Ottawa—Vanier), seconded by Mr. Jordan (Leeds—Grenville), — That Bill C-202, An Act to amend the Canada Health Act (linguistic duality), be now read a second time and referred to the Standing Committee on Official Languages.

The House proceeded to the taking of the deferred recorded division on the amendment of Mr. Castonguay (Madawaska—Restigouche), seconded by Mr. LeBlanc (Beauséjour—Petitcodiac), — That the motion be amended by deleting all the words after the word “That” and substituting the following:

“Bill C-202, An Act to amend the Canada Health Act (linguistic duality), be not now read a second time but that the Order be discharged, the Bill withdrawn, and the subject-matter thereof referred to the Standing Committee on Official Languages and that the said Committee report back to the House on or before October 31, 2003.”.
