Questions and responses 45th Parliament, 1st session May 26, 2025, to present

With regard to all acquisitions of land, non-residential buildings, and residential buildings reported in Volume III of the Public Accounts of Canada 2025: (a) for each acquisition, (i) what is the address or location, (ii) what is the type of property, (iii) what is the detailed property description (square footage, land size, etc.), (iv) what is the amount paid, (v) from whom was it acquired, (vi) what is the reason for its acquisition, (vii) which department, agency, or Crown corporation acquired the property, (viii) which department, agency, or Crown corporation will be using the acquired property; and (b) for each acquisition where an appraisal was done, (i) what was the appraised value, (ii) who conducted the appraisal?

With regard to unused or underused federally-owned buildings which can be converted to housing, as of June 15th 2025: (a) how many units of housing can be produced with (i) minimal interior renovation, (ii) extensive interior renovation (i.e. gutting), (iii) extensive interior and exterior renovation; and (b) what is the estimated cost per unit in (a)(i), (a)(ii) and (a)(iii)?

With regard to all sales of land, non-residential buildings, and residential buildings by the government since January 1, 2024: (a) for each sale, (i) what is the address or location, (ii) what is the type of property, (iii) what is the detailed property description (square footage, land size, etc.), (iv) what is the sale price, (v) to whom was it sold, (vi) what is the reason for its sale, (vii) which department, agency, or Crown corporation sold the property, (viii) on which date was it sold; and (b) for each sale where an appraisal was done, (i) what was the appraised value, (ii) who conducted the appraisal?

With regard to assets held by Crown corporations: what are the details of all assets held by Crown corporations with an estimated value in excess of $100 million, including, for each, the (i) description, (ii) estimated value, (iii) location?

With regard to the government's plans for the Sandspit Inn and the surrounding land owned by Transport Canada: (a) what is Transport Canada's detailed plan for the future of the Sandspit Inn, including the timeframe for the implementation of the plan; and (b) what are the details of all consultations conducted to date, or planned for the future, by Transport Canada related to the future of the Sandspit Inn?

With regard to the offer made by Public Services and Procurement Canada to the town council of Channel-Port aux Basques to purchase the property located at 30 Bay Street, Channel-Port aux Basques, Newfoundland and Labrador, for the price of $1 and the government's decision to later revoke the offer and list the property for sale at fair market value: (a) what are the details of the offer, including (i) the initial agreement that was discussed with the Town of Channel-Port aux Basques, (ii) how many properties were offered, (iii) the price of each property offered; (b) what is the reason for the withdrawal of the offer; (c) what are the details of the withdrawal, including the (i) date of the decision to withdraw, (ii) departments and personnel involved in the decision, (iii) departments and personnel involved in the communication of the withdrawal to the town council of Channel-Port aux Basques; (d) what are the details of any renovations made or planned for the property since January 1, 2022, including what was planned and the associated budgets and timelines; (e) what is the government's reason for no longer allowing the town to purchase the property for $1; (f) who determines what price the property will be listed for and how is the price determined; and (g) have contracts or financial agreements been signed by the government, including with realtors, related to the sale of the property, and, if so, what are the details of each, including the (i) date, (ii) vendor, (iii) value or financial terms, (iv) description of the goods or services provided, (v) manner in which the contract was awarded (sole-sourced or competitive bid)?

With regard to the former residence of the Consul General of Canada in New York, located at 550 Park Avenue and currently listed for sale: (a) on what date was the property listed for sale; (b) what is the listing price of the property; (c) what is the total amount paid in condominium fees since January 1, 2020, broken down by year; (d) how many property showings have taken place since the property was listed, and what are the dates of each showing; (e) what are the names of the real estate firms contracted to represent the Government of Canada in the sale of the property; (f) what is the total amount spent to date in relation to the sale of the property, including legal, administrative, real estate and staging costs; (g) were there any maintenance or renovation expenditures on the property since January 1, 2020, and, if so, what are the details, including the (i) amount, (ii) date, (iii) description of the work, (iv) vendor; (h) have any offers been received on the property to date, and, if so, (i) what is the date of each offer, (ii) what is the amount of each offer, (iii) was the offer accepted or declined; and (i) what were the moving costs incurred by the government to relocate to the new residence?
