The House resumed consideration of the motion of Ms. Petitpas Taylor (Minister of Official Languages), seconded by Mrs. Fortier (President of the Treasury Board), — That Bill C-13, An Act to amend the Official Languages Act, to enact the Use of French in Federally Regulated Private Businesses Act and to make related amendments to other Acts, be now read a second time and referred to the Standing Committee on Official Languages;
And of the amendment of Mr. Berthold (Mégantic—L'Érable), seconded by Mr. Lehoux (Beauce), — That the motion be amended by deleting all the words after the word '“That” and substituting the following:
“Bill C-13, An Act to amend the Official Languages Act, to enact the Use of French in Federally Regulated Private Businesses Act and to make related amendments to other Acts, be not now read a second time but that the order be discharged, the bill withdrawn, and the subject-matter thereof referred to the Standing Committee on Official Languages.”;
And of the subamendment of Mr. Genuis (Sherwood Park—Fort Saskatchewan), seconded by Mr. Ellis (Cumberland—Colchester), — That the amendment be amended by adding the following:
"; and that the committee report back no later than 10 sitting days following the adoption of this motion.".
