Let me add my voice of welcome to our panel who are taking time out of their busy day to share some information with us. We certainly appreciate it.
When I look back on what's happened in economic action plan 2015, which is also in action today as we speak, the thing that I find very interesting is the change in students being able to work while they're on a student loan program to help augment that loan and help with the financial side of going to school.
I have a ball of wax here with a bunch of different questions hanging out of the ball, so let's just see what we can do with it.
On average, how much more money will students be able to keep from their work?

Okay. Very good.
This is a what will happen question. We don't have any hard facts. What is it that you feel will help students move in to co-op learning programs and internships with the new student loan program? Is that going to be something that happens or not?

Thank you, Mr. Chair.
I welcome the panel.
Just for my own edification, are you the folks who visited with us a while ago when we had to bail out on you because the bells rang and we had to run over to vote? No?

We've heard from a lot of witnesses about the different aspects of social finance. I am wondering if somebody could walk us through what qualifies for a registered charity. There are 86,000 registered charities, and I think I receive mail from hundreds of them. They all want the same thing, money.
Could you talk a little bit about non-profit charities and how you can make money in the charity game and not pay tax on it? I am interested in that.

Under the social finance umbrella, we have all these various charities, bonds, and investments. Is that true? We put all these different charitable organizations under the umbrella that we call “social finance”.

When it comes to taxation, if we're talking about stocks and bonds, there are set taxation procedures to go through. Do the charities have a set procedure to go through, or do they fall under the stocks and bonds issues that we deal with?

Thank you, Mr. Chair.
During your presentation, Dr. Juppe, you said that it's a little tentative as to whether or not there's any return on investment in the program that you're familiar with. Is that common? We've heard other resource people indicate that there's a fair degree of success. What factor determines whether or not it's going to go forward?

Thank you.
Donald and Dale, you're both Saskatchewan folks, one in the northern part and one in the southern part in terms of your programs. I too am a Saskatchewan lad, so I appreciate what you're saying.
Could you enlighten us a little more about the makeup of the group? I didn't notice either one of you mention first nations folks in the programs. We have a large number of first nations folks, and often they're in need of some care. Could you expand a little on the composition of your groups?
May we start with Dale?

Thank you, Chair, and thanks to the resource people we have with us this afternoon.
I'll ask a couple of questions and either Andy or Adam can answer. In fact, I'd like to hear both of your answers.
First of all, we have social bonds. You folks didn't mention that, but we heard about social bonds from earlier witnesses. Can you share with us whether they have a place in your operation? If so, what is that place? Are they well accepted by investors?
Maybe we could start with you, Adam.
