Madam Speaker, the second petition calls on the government to take meaningful action to address the conflict in the Tigray region of the Ethiopia. Civilians are being subjected to human rights abuses and are being blocked from accessing humanitarian aid.
The petitioners are asking the government to immediately work with the Ethiopian and Eritrean governments to end the violence and promote democracy and the rule of law. It is in such a time as this that the world needs Canada to have a principled foreign policy.

Madam Speaker, the second petition says that the undersigned citizens of Canada draw the attention of the House of Commons to the following: Ethiopia has experienced alarming bouts of unrest and violence in the last year; conflict has engulfed the Tigray region of Ethiopia, leading to egregious human rights abuses and a humanitarian crisis; and humanitarian actors and independent journalists and researchers have almost no access to the affected regions. They are being shut out from human rights, and many human rights violations have been going on. There are many other things listed in this petition.

Mr. Speaker, today I have the privilege of presenting three petitions to the House.
The first petition is calling on the Government of Canada to respond to the violence in the Tigray region of Ethiopia. Petitioners are asking the government to call for an end to the violence in the region and to help to ensure that the innocent victims of the violence are able to access humanitarian aid. Canada has a history of supporting democracy around the world, and in addition to calling for an end to the violence, we need to do our part to ensure the fairness and legitimacy of the democratic process in Ethiopia.

Mr. Speaker, I am pleased to present two petitions this morning.
The first petition is in regard to Bill C-6 as well. There is great concern from the petitioners that the definition does need to be corrected. If it was, they would certainly support the bill. Their concern is around the way it basically overrides the choices of LGBTQ2 Canadians concerning sexuality and gender by prohibiting access to professional or spiritual support that is freely chosen in limiting their sexual behaviour or detransitioning.

Mr. Speaker, last week, the member for Winnipeg North sponsored a charter-violating petition for Mr. Tataryn, former president of the Manitoba Liberal Party and retired police officer, who is attempting to limit any criticism of police by making changes to the Criminal Code. The member claimed to support the petition in spirit, but according to parliamentary records, the member also supported the petition in dollars. Financial records reveal that he had hired Tataryn as a subject matter expert.
Why is this government willing to violate the Charter of Rights and Freedoms to help its Liberal buddies?

Mr. Speaker, I want to assure the member that our government will always stand up for the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, and we are working very hard with our law enforcement agencies and through their leadership with law enforcement agencies right across the country.
We had, just this weekend, in Ontario an extraordinary example of where the police were offered authorities to violate the charter and, unanimously, they stood up to that and said no. I want to acknowledge that leadership and assure the member that we remain committed to upholding all of the rights and freedoms that are available to all Canadians throughout the country.

Mr. Speaker, in the next petition the petitioners ask that the Prime Minister apologize for the actions of former prime minister Pierre Elliott Trudeau and his incredibly destructive national energy program, and ensure that provinces are able to develop and market their natural resources.

Madam Speaker, the next petition I am presenting is on behalf of Albertans. They want to draw the House's attention to the recent StatsCan report, which highlights that a disproportionate number of young men died between May and October. The petitioners also recognize that young men are three times more likely to commit suicide.
Albertans have suffered an energy downturn, an oil price war and a federal government unwilling to support major pipeline investment projects. Alberta has one of the highest unemployment rates in Canada.
The petitioners are calling on the House to approve shovel-ready projects across the country, letting Albertans get back to work, and to ensure the TMX expansion is complete, that local communities and organizations are supported, and that the 988 national suicide hotline is quickly created.

Mr. Speaker, I am presenting two petitions today.
One is in support of Bill S-204, which has just passed second reading in the Senate. That bill is on organ harvesting and trafficking.

Madam Speaker, my second petition will briefer. It is in regard to sex-selective abortion in Canada. There are no laws on this and it is antithetical to our commitment to equality between men and women. The petitioners call on the House of Commons to pass a Criminal Code prohibition of sex-selective abortion.

Madam Speaker, I am proud to present a petition from my neighbours in Milton.
The petitioners call upon the House of Commons to ensure that the human rights of Uighurs, Kazaks and predominantly Muslim minorities are protected. It also calls for an investigation into the human rights situation in Xinjiang, China be pursued, because Canada is obligated to confront the violation of international human rights in China against the Uighur Muslims and other minorities.

Mr. Speaker, today I have the honour to present two petitions.
The first petition I am presenting today seeks to support Canadian firearms owners and their health and safety. The petitioners are calling for the recognition that Canada is the only G7 nation that does not allow the use of sound moderators for hunting, sport shooting or noise pollution reduction. They are calling on the government to allow legal firearms owners to purchase and use sound moderators for all legal hunting and sport shooting activities.

Madam Speaker, the second petition I have to present draws the attention of the House and the Government of Canada to the internment and concentration camps in the Xinjiang Region of China of the Muslim Uighur Turkic people.
The petitioners are asking the government to formally recognize the genocide and to use the Magnitsky act to punish those who are organizing the genocide of the Turkic Uighur people.

Madam Speaker, I, too, rise with respect to the Uighur situation in Communist China and on behalf of Canadians who are concerned with the ongoing atrocities there.
Canada cannot and must not remain silent in the face of this ongoing tragedy. This petition, like the other petitions presented today, is calling on the House of Commons and the government to take action.
