Mr. Chair, Pitt Meadows is one of Canada's most beautiful communities. It's tucked in between the Fraser and Pitt rivers and is in the shadow of Golden Ears mountain. Most of the area consists of farmland, golf courses, parks and conservation areas. It also has Pitt Lake, which is among the largest freshwater tidal lakes in the world. Pitt Meadows' history dates back thousands of years with Katzie First Nation.
In the 1900s Dutch immigrants drained and diked the marshes allowing for today's bumper crops of cranberries and blueberries. It's hard to believe that this community is only a short commute to Vancouver and has one of the nation's busiest general aviation airports. Last weekend the community came together to celebrate Pitt Meadows Day a little differently because of COVID. In a great show of community spirit, from their front yards and balconies, thousands of residents came out to cheer for first responders and essential workers as we paraded throughout the city.
I am thankful to have raised my family here, taught in the schools and to now be the member of Parliament representing this wonderful community.

Thank you to all the witnesses for being here today and for your remarks.
I'm wondering if each of you could respond to this question. That is, what would be the impact on first nations if non-renewable resources, resource development projects, stopped going ahead?
Go ahead, Mr. Gladu.

Kirt, I'm wondering if you could talk a bit about the businesses in Nunavut in terms of the spectrum and the prime focus of most of the businesses. Could you give us the lay of the land when it comes to the indigenous business community in Nunavut?

If you don't mind, I'd like to ask about the impact of air transportation.
Obviously, most of the communities are fly-in communities, but especially during this COVID period, what has been the impact on businesses and the cost of living? Have you noticed changes? Are the flights...? Has that changed, or is it the same as before?

To begin, I have a couple of questions for Ernie Daniels.
Ernie, it might seem like a very simple question, but I'm wondering what the criteria is for being an indigenous company.

My understanding is that quite a few indigenous enterprises cannot receive the COVID supports because they're connected to the first nation or the band. I'm wondering if you can elaborate on that. For example, with the Canada emergency wage subsidy, are there strict rules? Do they exclude quite a few different indigenous businesses that need the supports?

I must admit that I was amazed when you mentioned $943 million is under your umbrella, your supervision, as the FNFA, and there have been no defaults. That shows tremendous responsibility. Is what's happening here with COVID potentially undermining that record? How do you see things going forward in meeting those obligations?

Thank you.
My translation doesn't seem to be working.
My question is for Dr. Vollant.
I live in Maple Ridge, a suburb of Vancouver. In our region, we've had to cancel thousands of preventive operations, for heart conditions, cancer and other diseases, so that we could be ready to treat COVID-19 patients. That's sure to have consequences. I'm wondering what the negative consequences will be. You already touched on this briefly.
Have you seen a decrease in help for people with health conditions? What should we do, and what can we do, for these people and for your people?

Thank you very much.
MP Zimmer, I believe, talked about transportation. What has been the impact with regard to the reduction in flights? I imagine there has been a reduction in flights in the north, as we have seen throughout Canada. Are we noticing a difference in the price of goods such as food and other needs? Is it putting more economic pressure on first nations people?
Perhaps Amanda and then the chief could speak to that.
