Pursuant to Standing Order 52, Mr. Rae (Toronto Centre) asked leave to move the adjournment of the House for the purpose of discussing a specific and important matter requiring urgent consideration, namely, the situation in Syria.
The Speaker decided that the matter was proper to be discussed and, pursuant to Standing Order 52(9), directed that it be considered on Tuesday, May 7, 2013, at the ordinary hour of daily adjournment.

The Speaker ruled that the Order for the consideration of motion M-408, standing on the Order Paper in the name of Mr. Warawa (Langley), be dropped to the bottom of the Order of Precedence on the Order Paper to allow the Member for Langley the opportunity to appeal, pursuant to Standing Order 92(4), the decision of the Standing Committee on Procedure and House Affairs.

The Speaker ruled that Bill C-317, An Act to amend the Income Tax Act (labour organizations), standing on the Order Paper in the name of Mr. Hiebert (South Surrey—White Rock—Cloverdale), was improperly before the House and declared the Order for second reading proceedings null and void.
Accordingly, the Order for second reading of the Bill was discharged and the item was dropped from the Order Paper.
