Petition to the Government of Canada

• Canadians are concerned about the changing climate and the resulting droughts, wildfires and floods caused by a warming planet;
• The federal government is not addressing the climate crisis in ways that will fundamentally prevent further greenhouse gas emissions;
• It is necessary to break through this climate silence with clear, honest, and consistent public communication grounded in science and lived experience;
• Recognition and honouring of Indigenous stewardship of land and water are essential to our future;
• It is critical to eliminate the self-interest that supports the fossil fuel industries with subsidies, thereby delaying the clean energy transition;
• It is fundamental that we break through the climate silence by showing that climate-friendly solutions are cheaper, more efficient and can benefit every Canadian;
• Tripling Canada’s investment in renewable and clean energy and building a broad electrical grid is a critical nation-building project; and
• True leadership is overdue regarding the climate crisis, because later is too late.
