Petition to the Government of Canada

Whereas:
  • The 1988 Winter Olympics were an historic event in Alberta and Canada;
  • The Olympic Plaza was a significant structure in those Games where champions would gather nightly;
  • Albertans showed their support of the Games through volunteering and attending in record numbers; and
  • Individuals supported the construction of the Plaza, purchasing the structural bricks which created it;
We, the undersigned, citizens and residents of Canada, call upon the Government of Canada to:
1. Recognize the significance of the engraved names on the building blocks and bricks of the Olympic Plaza; and
2. Ensure they are preserved, recognized and/or featured in the creation of any new structure.
