Petition to the Government of Canada
- The Government of Canada is strongly committed to supporting the equality and human rights of the LGBTQ2+ community and all residents;
- “Sex”, “sexual orientation” and “gender identity or expression” are prohibited grounds of discrimination in the Canadian Human Rights Act and the Criminal Code;
- The practice of “conversion therapy” or “reparative therapy”, is seriously harmful to individuals and is opposed by the Canadian Psychological Association, the World Health Organization, the American Psychiatric Association, the American Medical Association and others; and
- The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child indicates that children should not be discriminated against based on what gender they identify with.
