Petition to the House of Commons
- Patients receiving psychotherapy treatment from a Registered Psychotherapist (RP) in private practice must pay the harmonized sales tax (HST) on the fee charged;
- Psychotherapy is a health service which, when provided within the scope of practice of members of any other Regulated Health Profession (RHP), is HST-exempt; and
- The HST adds a financial barrier on top of the social and cultural stigma that can accompany mental illness.
