A carillonneur is a musician who plays a carillon instrument to perform a variety of music, from original compositions to arrangements of classical and popular music. To learn about this instrument, visit the About page. Although carillonneurs are typically solo artists, professional associations have been formed to promote the carillon culture. The Dominion Carillonneur is responsible for playing the Parliament Building’s 53-bell Peace Tower Carillon, an important role that has been held by Dr. Andrea McCrady since 2008. Carillonneurs around the world form an international community of musicians who collaborate to arrange, compose and play music.
