Motions Respecting Senate Amendments to Bills

An Act to amend the Criminal Code (hate propaganda, hate crime and access to religious or cultural places)

June 11, 2026 — Resuming consideration of the motion of the Honourable Sean Fraser (Minister of Justice), seconded by the Honourable Ruby Sahota (Secretary of State (Combatting Crime)), — That the amendment made by the Senate to Bill C-9, An Act to amend the Criminal Code (hate propaganda, hate crime and access to religious or cultural places), be now read a second time and concurred in;
And of the amendment of Andrew Lawton (Elgin—St. Thomas—London South), seconded by Alex Ruff (Bruce—Grey—Owen Sound), — That the motion be amended by deleting all the words after the word “That” and substituting the following:
“the order for the consideration of the amendment made by the Senate to Bill C-9, An Act to amend the Criminal Code (hate propaganda, hate crime and access to religious or cultural places), be discharged and the bill withdrawn”.
