Minutes of Proceedings
It was agreed, — That the proposed supplementary budget in the amount of $1,000, for the study of antimicrobial resistance, be adopted.
It was agreed, — That the proposed supplementary budget in the amount of $1,000, for the study of artificial intelligence, be adopted.
It was agreed, — That the proposed supplementary budget in the amount of $2,500, for the study of the impact of the criteria for awarding federal funding on research excellence in Canada, be adopted.
It was agreed, — That the proposed budget in the amount of $38,800, for the study of the implications of the Canada-China Preliminary Joint Arrangement on Canada’s electric vehicle sector, be adopted.
It was agreed, — That the proposed supplementary budget in the amount of $1,000, for the study of private sector investment in research and development in Canada, be adopted.
Maxime Blanchette-Joncas moved, — That, in light of the translation-related issues as conveyed by the Translation Bureau, the committee rescind the order for the production of documents adopted on October 1, 2025, and amended on October 20, 2025, and sent to the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council, the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada, and the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, as part of the study on the impact of federal funding allocation criteria on research excellence in Canada.
Debate arose thereon.
The question was put on the motion and it was agreed to, by a show of hands: YEAS: 9; NAYS: 0.
Paul Hébert, Alejandro Adem and Sylvie Lamoureux made statements and, with Jeff Moore, Marcel Turcot and Valérie Laflamme, answered questions.
At 12:03 p.m., the meeting was suspended.
At 12:09 p.m., the meeting resumed.
Sylvain Charbonneau, Mitch Davies and Mona Nemer made statements and, with Mohamad Nasser-Eddine and Julie Lefebvre, answered questions.
At 1:08 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
